Step into the warmth of a roaring fire, candlelit tables, and the festive spirit of a bygone age. This December, join us at The Horse & Groom for a Victorian-style Christmas menu full of tradition, comfort, and celebration.
Our chefs have created a menu that brings together the richness of traditional Christmas fare and the best of local New Forest produce. From beef wellington to game terrine, this is hearty, flavourful food made for winter feasting – the kind of menu that makes you slow down, settle in, and raise a glass to the season.
What's on the Menu?
For an additional £3.50 per person, begin with a glass of mulled wine or spiced cider, just as the Victorians would have – warming, fragrant, and served fireside.
Then move into starters like Chestnut & Wild Mushroom Soup, Tunworth Cheese in Pastry, or our Smoked Hampshire Trout. For mains, choose from a classic Roast Norfolk Turkey, rich Beef Wellington, New Forest Venison Haunch, or Festive Nutty Loaf with Redcurrant Glaze – all served with traditional trimmings.
Finish with Figgy Pudding, a New Forest Apple Charlotte, Sherry Trifle, Dark Chocolate Truffle Torte, or Ice cream followed by coffee, mince pies, and sugared almonds.
For an additional £5.00 per person, finish with a Victorian cheese board.
