The Horse Returns to CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide After 37 Years

16/10/2025

A Milestone for the Pub and the Community

We are proud to share some fantastic news – The Horse has been officially included in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide 2026. This is the first time in 37 years that our village pub has featured in this prestigious publication, and it marks a truly special milestone for our team and community.

The Good Beer Guide, compiled annually by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), is considered the definitive guide to the UK’s best pubs for real ale. To be selected is no small feat – it reflects not only the quality of the beer served, but also the atmosphere, hospitality, and character that makes a pub worth visiting. For The Horse to return to its pages after nearly four decades is an achievement we are incredibly proud of.

Since taking over the pub, Mark and Nicole have worked hard to restore The Horse as a cornerstone of Woodgreen life – a place where locals and visitors alike can enjoy great beer, hearty food, and warm company. Our focus on offering a rotating selection of well-kept real ales, sourced from local breweries as well as further afield, has been at the heart of that mission. To see this effort recognised by CAMRA feels both humbling and rewarding.

But perhaps most importantly, this recognition belongs to the whole community. The Horse thrives because of the people who come through its doors – the regulars who make it feel like home, the newcomers who discover its charm, and the passionate team who keep the beers flowing and the welcome warm.

We’ll be raising a glass to celebrate this achievement, and we hope you’ll join us. Here’s to real ale, to community, and to many more years of The Horse in the Good Beer Guide.
