A Year to Remember: Highlights from 2025 at The Horse & Groom

01/01/2025

As 2025 draws to a close, we’ve been looking back on a year full of unforgettable moments at The Horse & Groom. From unexpected power cuts to packed summer festivals, new menus to festive feasts, this year reminded us exactly why we love being at the heart of Woodgreen.

Here are some of the highlights that made 2025 one for the books.

1. March: When the Lights Went Out, the Candles Came On

A power cut could have put a dampener on the day… but instead, it turned into one of our most memorable afternoons.

With candles lighting the pub, a BBQ firing outside, and Jeremy Clarkson (cardboard version, of course) keeping watch, everyone embraced the moment. Proof that good company makes everything better, and electricity is optional.

2. May: A Brand-New Website Goes Live

May marked the launch of our new website, making it easier than ever to explore our menus, book a table, and stay up to date with what’s happening at the pub.

Thousands of visitors now stop by online each month – and we’re thrilled to welcome so many of you from screen to table.

3. Food Highlights: A Year of Seriously Good Eating

If there’s one thing 2025 delivered in abundance, it was great food.

From beautifully plated mains and comforting pub classics to seasonal specials and show-stopping dishes, the kitchen has been busy creating food that looks as good as it tastes. A year of flavours we’re very proud of.

4. The New Pizza Menu: Fresh Out of the Oven

The launch of our new Pizza Menu brought something exciting to The Horse – and it didn’t disappoint.

Crisp bases, generous toppings, and plenty of smiles as pizzas flew out of the oven. A firm favourite from day one.

5. July: Horse-Fest Takes Over the Garden

Summer peaked with Horse-Fest – a buzzing festival filled with live music, sunshine, and a garden packed to the rafters.

Drinks flowing, music playing, and that unmistakable hum of a pub at its happiest. One of those days we’ll be talking about for years.

6. August: Sunshine, The Patio & The Filly Bar

August brought long, sunny days made for outdoor living.

The patio was glowing, the Filly Bar was busy, and glasses were never empty for long. Lazy afternoons, golden evenings, and plenty of reasons to stay for just one more.

7. October: CAMRA Good Beer Guide Recognition

A proud moment for us in October as The Horse & Groom earned a place in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

A huge nod to the quality of our ales and the care that goes into every pint pulled across the bar.

8. October - The Dog Party

This one belonged to the dogs – and their humans.

We hosted our first ever Dog Party, and the pub was filled with wagging tails, muddy paws, treats, and laughter. One of the most joyful events on our calendar, and a true celebration of our four-legged regulars.

9. December: The Victorian Christmas Feast

The year finished on a festive high with our Victorian Christmas Feast.
A beautifully crafted menu, seasonal flavours, and guests embracing the spirit of a traditional Christmas celebration. A perfect way to round off an unforgettable year.

Looking Ahead

2025 reminded us that it’s the moments – planned and unplanned – that make a pub special. Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported us, laughed with us, and helped make this year what it was.

Here’s to more good food, good beer, and good times in 2026.
